Painting & Tile Fixing Sensei College alumni Success Story

#myskillsmyfuture Alumni Story

Pharell (Daktari’s) Story- Painting and Tile fixing Alumni at Sensei Institute- 2016 October. In his own words….

“I share this story as a beneficiary student of the skills gained at Sensei Institute of Technology. When I finished high school the first thing I was thinking was doing artisan course and I was eager to find a nice college to Join in especially upcountry since am from Coast, Kilifi County. I emailed Sensei  office and settled on doing the painting and decoration course first (I later came back to do another course of Tile Fixing course).

I joined October 2016 as a painter student. It was not an easy task since we were few in this course. Most students were doing plant operator and I was feeling like I was the odd one out.  My Trainer, Instructor  Juma really encouraged me to keep to my ambition and do the course with all my heart, and passion. Deputy principal, I also remember him- and thank him a lot for supporting my idea of taking painting course since it was a unique one of its own kind.  I remember he told me "Daktari" don't worry, even these plant operator students will one day need your service of painting because all of them will need a painter for their houses. I was so inspired and encouraged a lot.

We finished the course well since it was a two week course. I learnt how to mix paints, make painting quotations and how to cost my labour.  After the course I travelled back home in Mtwapa. After 2 months of searching, I got some links for an attachment with a painting contractor.  After some months, I had good savings and came back to Sensei Institute to learn Tiles fixing in December 2016. Here is my testimony-I am now good in painting and tiles fixing- my work is a testimony. I urge my fellow youths boys to girls to join Sensei Institute they will never regret,,, Glory be to God and may God keep all the staff

and bless them.

Success story of Plant Operator Jane Njeri

Construction Plant Operator Jane Njeri’s story You can do anything you put your mind to” , ….. Jane Nyokabi Njeri confidently proclaims to all young people who want to give up on life. And she knows it very well. Her sheer determination, against all odds of lack of money, unfulfilled promises and a difficult working environment, finally yielded fruits for her as she was able to pay her school fees. She graduated successfully as a plant operator from Sensei Institute of Technology in November 2016, a desire that she had nurtured for long. Jane shares her journey of life with us, a journey that began in 2013 when she only had a thousand shillings. In the period between 2010-2013, Jane was a volunteer worker for an NGO, a job that earned her no salary. Since getting a salaried employment was proving difficult, and she needed to pay her bills, her situation triggered her to think of enrolling for a skills based course. This, she hoped, would change over her life’s miserable situ...
